The Queen’s Speech (December 2019)

Campbell Robb, Chief Executive of Nacro, comments in response to the Queen’s Speech:
The announcement in today’s Queen’s Speech to send more people to prison and for longer must be backed up with a commitment and investment in rehabilitation and reducing reoffending. This means giving people the essentials they need as they leave prison to move forward – safe and stable housing, access to financial support, medication and health support as well as sustainable education and employment opportunities in the community.

We welcome the introduction of a Royal Commission into the criminal justice system. Let’s seize the opportunity to fix this broken system to give everyone the best chance at a second chance.
