Evidence on prison education published by Education Committee
Nacro has submitted evidence to the Education Committee’s inquiry on prison education: ‘Education: Are prisoners being left behind?’. It examines how current arrangements support learners in custody and how well prison education delivers the skills needed by employers. The inquiry is considering education for adults, young people and children in custody.
In our evidence we highlight the need for industry standard equipment and teaching in prisons, ensuring that prison leavers are provided with digital skills and the skills required by employers. We also call for additional investment in resources for leaners with special educational needs, and in the provision of apprenticeships and traineeships.
