Campbell Robb in The Times: Vaccinate prisoners and prison officers as soon as possible

Nacro’s Chief Executive, Campbell Robb, has written for The Times Red Box, emphasising the worsening crisis of COVID-19 in our prisons and reiterating our calls to government to keep people in the criminal justice system safe.

There are now a number of prisons where serious outbreaks of COVID-19 are causing real concern. These come amid an already severe lockdown which we know is causing a raft of issues across the whole prison estate, damaging mental health and welfare and hampering any chance of meaningful activity.

There are practical steps the government can take to reduce the impact of the pandemic on prisons and prison leavers. Not taking those options will have an impact on us all.
