VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance (HW Alliance)

The Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Health and Wellbeing Alliance (HW Alliance) is a partnership between sector representatives and the health and care system. The alliance has been developed to ensure that different organisations are able to share their experiences at national level with improving health and wellbeing services across communities.

Managed by the Department of Health, Public Health England and NHS England, the HW Alliance is made up of 21 members, representing communities who share protected characteristics or experience significant health inequalities.

Our partnership with Clinks

Selected for our demonstrable reach for the communities we represent, we partnered with Clinks to provide recommendations and guidance for the health and care needs of people in contact with the justice system and their families and identify strategies to improve their health and wellbeing.

As members of the HW Alliance, we’re able to contribute towards building a bridge between, sector, the health and care system and the people who use it.

The HW Alliance aims to ensure high quality services which improve health and wellbeing, to respond fairly and effectively to all communities and to make sure everyone has a say. Amplifying the voice of the voluntary sector and people with lived experience to inform national policy.

Our aim is to facilitate integrated working between the voluntary and statutory sectors, and co-produce solutions to promote equality and reduce health inequalities.

Health and Wellbeing in Justice

We drive change in policy and research in health and wellbeing. Being part of the HW alliance in partnership with Clinks, allows share our expertise and experiences for those in the justice system; focussing on support for individuals and our Service Users.

The core purpose and aims of the HW Alliance are:

• Facilitate integrated working between the voluntary and statutory sectors.
• Support a two-way flow of information between communities, the VCSE sector and policy leads.
• Amplify the voice of the VCSE sector and people with lived experience to inform national policy.
• Facilitate co-produced solutions to promote equality and reduce health inequalities.
