Annual Education Awards Ceremony
On 19th July, Nacro Walsall hosted their annual Awards Ceremony with awards presented by Councillor Harbans Sarohi, the Deputy Mayor of Walsall, and Lisa Capper MBE, Nacro’s Director of Education & Skills.
This year has been one of the most challenging in recent memory with the pandemic preventing classroom teaching for large parts of the year and postponing assessments. Because of this, staff felt it important to mark the occasion and celebrate the achievements of learners, with their families, caregivers, and support workers in attendance. Their achievements are testament to their drive, commitment and resilience, alongside staff support and guidance.
City and Guilds certificates were awarded by Centre Manager, Dalian. Lisa then awarded outstanding achievement awards to a select group of learners who had been nominated by their tutors for attendance, helping their peers, being kind and respectful, showing commitment, promoting the virtues of education, overcoming barriers and making significant personal development. Lisa spoke to the learners about their hopes, dreams and progression routes.
Finally, Deputy Mayor, Harbans Sarohi, presented the Mayorβs Award to a student who had previously left all other educational institutions, who overcame a number of barriers and has developed her confidence and self-esteem at Nacro Walsall.
It was a fantastic day and staff wish this cohort the very best for the future!
